Double Master Medals Awarded to Pusser's in 2014 Rum Masters Competition

Pusser’s Rum Limited continues to earn high accolades amongst its piers reinforcing its claim that it blends the finest aged rum in world.   The Company has been awarded two prestigious medals at the annual Rum Masters competition conducted by The Spirits Business in London. This time, an independent panel, consisting of spirits-industry personnel, bartenders and food-and-beverage critics, awarded double MASTER medals to the Pusser’s Rum portfolio—one for the Aged 15-Year-Old and another for the 3-Year-Old Blue Label.  The rums won similar GOLD medal honors in their respective categories during the 2013 competition.  The “Master Medals” are awarded to the best rum its particular category.

The Rum Masters is one of a series of annual spirits competitions set up by The Spirits Business magazine, one of the leading spirits and on-trade publications in the UK read by bartenders, bar owners, brand owners and mixologists. The competitions are run as blind tastings. The judges are drawn from mixologists, bartenders in London and the UK, and the awards are popular with brand owners.

PUSSERS RUM: CIRCA 1655 - Blended TO ADMIRALTY SPECIFICATION

The Pusser’s portfolio of rums are made in accordance with the blend last used by the Royal Navy when it discontinued its daily ration on board Her Majesty’s Ships on July 31, 1970, known as “Black Tot Day” among the Commonwealth countries, thus ending a ritual that first began in 1655. Over time, Pusser’s Rum LTD aged the unique Admiralty blend which further enhanced its taste profile. In addition to its trove of international accolades, Pusser’s Rum has been labeled by the editors of Forbes magazine as “The single malt of rum” and named “one of the ten best rums in the world.”

Pusser’s Rum is a blend of rums distilled in Guyana and Trinidad. The high ester rums are painstakingly combined to create the perfect balance of naturally occurring flavor. The blend’s unique flavor is heavily influenced by rum distilled from century-old wooden pot stills that have absorbed decades of unique, organic flavoring compounds that provide a rich flavor far beyond that of automated stainless steel column stills.  Unlike most rums, Pusser’s is all natural and is never flavored or colored.

And the origins of the unique name known as Pusser’s? It’s simply a corruption of the word “Purser,” the officer on board ship who kept the ship’s stocks and was responsible for the daily issue of the “tot” of rum, a quantity that was doubled before battle and after victory!

Pusser’s Rum makes its home in South Carolina, where their corporate headquarters is based in North Charleston. The office houses administration and management personnel who provide operations and marketing support for the company. Pusser’s retail warehouse is also located in Charleston.
