Pusser’s Rum A Naval Spirit
Pusser’s Rum Ltd. bottles, blends and distributes the original Royal Navy rum—one of the most historic and traditional rums still available today. From the earliest days of the British Royal Navy, iron men in their wooden ships were issued a daily ration or “tot” of rum by the ship’s “Purser,” a word the sailor’s later coined as “Pusser.”
For over 300 years, this rum tradition rewarded heroism and eased defeat…until some of the higher-ups decided rum was having too much fun with the sailing men. On 31 July 1970 (aka Black Tot Day) the “tot” tradition was abandoned and cast aside. In 1978, Charles Tobias, founder of Pusser’s Rum, obtained the rights to the Royal Navy blend and began bottling and selling this storied spirit soon after. Since then, Pusser’s has extended the line to include Aged, Overproof and Spiced varietals, and has collected over 100 awards and accolades for their range of rum blends. Today, Pusser’s artisanal rum blends are crafted using time-honoured traditions and techniques. Each marque is hand-selected, according to specification, for its individual smoothness, flavour, and mellow depth. The rich flavour of Pusser’s Rum is all natural—no artificial flavouring or colouring is added.
