Winter's Coming: 3 Tasty Rum Cocktails To Keep You Warm This Winter

Studies show that drinking in moderation, such as enjoying a delicious Rum cocktail, can be good for your health! So this winter why not stay toasty with a festive Rum beverage?

We have put together a list of our top 3 favorite winter rum elixirs that you need in your life during these upcoming cold months. So, before you drink another boring mixed drink read this article and spice up your next beverage!

1. The Rum Toddy

A Hot Toddy made with a rich and robust dark rum is the perfect winter potion to keep you cozy on cold nights. For this version you will need the following ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Pusser's Gunpowder Proof Rum 
  • 1/4 oz. Turbinado Sugar
  • Dash of Orange Bitters
  • Nutmeg 
  • 1/4 oz. Water
  • Orange Peel 

To make this delicious cocktail you will need to slowly heat all of the ingredients (except the orange peel and nutmeg) over low heat until warmed through. Then pour the mixture into a Toddy glass and grate fresh nutmeg over the top followed by the orange peel garnish. After that...Enjoy!

2. Rum Old Fashioned 

The classic Old Fashioned is traditionally made with a Rye or Bourbon, however, this version uses a tasty aged Rum. For this Holiday libation you will need the following ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Pusser's 15 Year Aged Rum
  • 1 Sugar Cube 
  • 2-3 Dashes of Peychauds Bitters
  • 1-2 Amarena Cherries
  • Orange peel 

To make this cocktail you will need to add a sugar cube to a mixing container for cocktails and then add the bitters over the cube and muddle. Next, you will add a small amount of ice and your Rum and stir for 60 seconds using a cocktail spoon. 

When the cocktail is thoroughly mixed you will then strain it into an Old Fashioned glass over clean rocks and garnish with your Cherry and Orange Peel. For added flavor, you could muddle your Orange and cherry with the sugar cube. 

3. Rum Sparkler 

This festive sparkling cocktail is an elegant choice for Holiday parties or for a before-dinner drink. For this unique cocktail, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. Pusser's Rum
  • 5 Mint Leaves
  • 1/4 oz. Lime Juice
  • 1/4 oz Simple Syrup 
  • 3 oz. Sparkling Wine, Champagne, or Prosecco 
  • Lime Peel 

To mix this cocktail you will add the mint, lime juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake the mixture for 60 seconds and then strain into a Champagne flute.

Then you will top the mixture off with Sparkling Wine, Champagne, or Prosecco. To Finish the cocktail, you will squeeze the lime peel over the top and drop it into your glass and enjoy!
