How to Pair Your Aged Rum With Food

You have probably heard that there are better food pairings for certain wines before. You know that white wine goes better with seafood and steak goes better with red wine. But did you know that there are certain foods to pair with aged rum?

Well, there are! If you are drinking any aged rum or an aged rum cocktail, it goes much better paired with specific food.

Ready to learn what type of food to pair with your rum? Keep reading!

Steak

Much like red wine, aged rum goes perfectly with steak. Even better, aged rum cocktails go with many different types of meat dishes, specifically red meat.

The aged rum complements the bold flavors of steak and red meat to enhance the caramelized flavors from the aged rum.

Cheese

Another great pairing is aged rum and different cheeses.

However, there are some cheeses that are better with rum than others. For instance, you may not want to choose a sharp cheddar to go with your aged rum. Instead, you may want to go more for the creamy cheeses.

These types of cheese are brie, blue cheese, and Gouda. You may be able to try other cheeses with aged rum like Parmesan or a dryer cheese like asiago as well. Because these cheeses tend to be more peppery, they go well with aged rum.

Ceviche

If you want to mix it up a bit and go for something a little bit more unique, you can try to pair ceviche with aged rum. This refreshing and citrus-forward dish offers a contrast from the bold aged rum that you were drinking.

Dessert

If you have a sweet tooth, you may want to pair your aged rum with something a little bit sweeter than a steak. The good news is that you can!

Pairing aged rum with desserts that are a little less rich than some is the best. You may even want to consider pairing desserts that are rum-soaked already with your aged rum, like our rum cake. Try pairing it with Tres Leches cake, Bananas Foster, or a pineapple upside-down cake.

Spicy Foods

There is something to be said about pairing spicy foods with aged rum. The boldness of the flavor that the spice brings out in the food compliments the aged rum and spice within the drink itself.

If you want to make sure that you were drinking the best rum, make sure you have Pussers aged rum to pair with all of your food.
