Best Painkiller Cocktail Recipe for a Soothing Night In

Did you know that the Royal Navy used to issue sailors with a daily rum ration? There was a day called Black Tot Day, which was the last day that they issued the sailors rum. It was July 31, 1970.

That's where Pussers Navy Rum comes from. We like to drink in memory of the wooden ships with the Iron men on board them.

One of our favorite ways to use our rum is to make a painkiller cocktail. Keep reading to learn some of the best painkiller cocktails for a soothing night in.

The Pusser’s Painkiller

If you want to use our recipe and feel like you are part of the story, this is the best painkiller cocktail out there. Here is the painkiller cocktail recipe:

  • 2-ounces of Pusser’s Rum
  • 4-ounces of any pineapple juice
  • 1-ounce of any orange juice
  • 1-ounce of cream of coconut
  • Freshly grated nutmeg (to garnish)

To make the cocktail, you're going to add all of these ingredients into the shaker except for the nutmeg. Pour the shaken cocktail into a glass filled with ice and then put the fresh nutmeg on top.

You can garnish the painkiller with an orange slice or a cherry.

This recipe is one of our very own and originates from the British Virgin Islands.

Large Batch Recipe

Let's say that you were having a few friends over or just want to make the cocktail with a few leftovers for the next night you have in. Here is the large batch recipe:

  • 750 ml Pusser's Rum (this is 1 full bottle)
  • 89 fl. oz orange juice
  • 15 fl. oz Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut (Boil or Heat before adding)
  • 42 fl. oz pineapple juice

To make the large batch recipe, you will combine all of the ingredients into a 5-gallon container. You need to mix it all together well before you add it to a glass. Pour into a glass with ice.

Other Variations of the Painkiller

While these are our favorite recipes, there are a few other variations of the painkiller recipe.

For instance, you do not have to garnish with a cherry or an orange slice. You may want to garnish your painkiller with a cinnamon stick for a little boost of flavor and to make it a little bit spicier.

The garnish is completely up to you!

Make Yourself a Painkiller Cocktail

If you are planning to have a night in sometime soon, you should plan on making yourself a painkiller cocktail. A painkiller is a delicious drink that you can either make an entire batch of to have to share with friends or just drink wine by the glass.

If you want to make the painkiller correctly, you need to make sure you have the right rum. You can click here to buy Pussers Navy Rum to ensure that you were making the original recipe.
