The Garrison Cut
Ingredients
- 2oz. Pusser's Gunpowder Proof Rum
- 3/4oz. Lime Juice
- 1/2oz. Honey Syrup
- 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
-
1 Sprig of Fresh Rosemary (to garnish)
-
Optional 2oz. Dry Irish Cider (to top up)
Directions
-
Combine the Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof, lime juice, honey syrup, and bitters into a cocktail shaker with ice.
-
Shake vigorously until the tin is frost-cold and the mixture is well-chilled.
-
Strain over a large, clear ice cube—or into a tall glass with cracked ice if opting for the cider topper.
-
Singe the tip of the fresh rosemary sprig with a torch until it smolders and glows.
-
Infuse by dropping the smoldering sprig directly into the glass; stir briefly to bind the woodsmoke to the rum, top with dry Irish cider if desired, and serve.
The Garrison Cut Cocktail
The Garrison Cut is a disciplined, high-stakes pour designed for the head of the table. Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof provides a high-yield, full-bodied backbone that refuses to be buried, while fresh lime and honey syrup strike a sharp balance between grit and polish. The ritual of the charred rosemary binds the scent of woodsmoke directly to the heavy, molasses-driven spirit—mirroring the industrial fog of the Garrison itself—while an optional topper of Dry Irish Cider adds a crisp, rebellious edge. It’s a sophisticated, hard-hitting build that hits with authority and finishes clean.
