How to Make a Rum Punch: The Only Recipe You'll Need

Summer means beaches, swimsuits and cold drinks. Picture it now; a warm summer night with a cold rum punch cocktail in your hand.

You’re relaxed, happy, and a little proud of yourself. You’re proud because you made the rum punch recipe yourself, and you made it right.

In this blog post, you’ll find a recipe for a Jamaican rum punch that will have your friends asking you to bartend more often.

Before you start on the recipe, be sure to grab a bottle of Pusser’s Rum; the best rum for punch. Once you’ve got your bottle of Pusser’s, you’re ready to move on to the recipe.

Preparing to Make Your Rum Punch

The more fresh fruit you have, the better your rum punch will taste. Store-bought juice will suffice if you can’t make freshly squeezed pineapple juice or orange juice.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1 cup Pusser's rum
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • Ice cubes
  • Sliced fruits (optional)

Gather all your ingredients at the bar and get out your bar tools. You’ll need a pitcher, a stir stick, and glasses for serving.

You'll also need a knife to slice the fruit and a cutting board. Now you can move on to the next step

How to Make the Rum Punch

Step 1: Mix the rum, pineapple juice, lime juice, and orange juice into your pitcher. While this recipe suggests using one cup of rum, you can use more or less depending on how strong you want your drink to be. Be sure to stir all the ingredients together until they're very well mixed.

Step 2: Once you’ve stirred the rum and juice, you can add the spices. Add the ½ tsp of nutmeg and ½ tsp of cinnamon to the pitcher and begin stirring. You should stir until you can’t see the tiny clicks of nutmeg and cinnamon anymore.

Step 3: By now, your punch should be well-mixed. Now you’re ready to mix in the simple syrup. You can buy simple syrup from the store or make your own using sugar and water. Here is a quick recipe for making homemade simple syrup.

Step 4: The final step before serving is to add ice cubes and freshly sliced fruit. Rum punch is best enjoyed with tropical fruit such as mangos, kiwis, limes, and oranges.

Be sure to add enough ice to keep the rum cold even while it sits out in the pitcher. Serve the punch in glasses and garnish with a slice of fruit on the edge of the glass.

Enjoying Your Rum Punch

Now that you’ve got the full recipe for a traditional rum punch, you can enjoy it! Be sure to serve it cold and sip it slowly for maximum enjoyment. Remember to get your bottle of Pusser’s as well.
