Positive lifestyle changes can be made anytime inspiration strikes, but the new year is always a good time for a clean slate, particularly following a high-calorie, party-packed holiday season. If you’re looking to get healthier this year, chances are you’re prepping yourself to say goodbye to alcoholic beverages, at least temporarily. But don’t throw your glass out just yet. While drinking alcohol may not be the healthiest past-time, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Not all cocktails are created equal! We’ve gathered a few of our favourite lower-calorie cocktail options that taste great without a ton of added sugar or juices, so you can get (or stay) fit without giving up your Pusser’s.
Pusser’s Naked Lorna
1-1/2 oz Pusser’s Rum
3/4 ounces unsweetened lime juice
2 tiny scoops of stevia
A few dashes Angostura Bitters
Pour stevia, lime juice, and rum into a Double Rocks glass. Top off with soda water. Stir thoroughly and float Angostura bitters on top.
Pusser’s & Diet Coke (Diet “Poke”)
2 oz Pusser’s Rum
Pour rum and coke into a glass with ice and stir. Garnish with a fresh lemon wedge.
Pusser’s Rummy Old Fashioned
2 oz Pusser’s Rum (15 Year Aged preferred)
1/4 ounce maple syrup (Look for a low-cal option for an extra healthy cocktail)
A couple dashes Angostura Bitters
Combine all liquids in a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into rocks glass over a single cube of ice. Garnish with orange twist.
